Living in the South, one of my favorite foods in the world is BBQ! I literally could eat pulled pork, smoked chicken, and brisket every day and be happy. But when I became Paleo, I realized how difficult it was to find a healthy bbq sauce. Almost all of them have loads of sugar, corn syrup, gums, and unidentifiable ingredients. Therefore, I started making my own. This took around 5 tries to perfect, but now it is a staple in my kitchen. I have to make a giant jar almost every other week because my family and I love it so much! We put it on meats, sweet potatoes, pizza crusts, eggs, and almost everything! It has a nice kick and a great flavor that will prove you never need to buy packaged bbq sauce again.

Ingredients:

  1. One 24 oz can of crushed tomatoes
  2. 1 small can of tomato paste
  3. 1/4 cup coconut aminos
  4. 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  5. 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  6. 2 TB garlic powder
  7. 1.5 TB chili powder
  8. 1.5 TB smoked paprika
  9. 1TB chipotle powder
  10. 1/2 TB salt
  11. pepper to taste
  12. 1 tsp cayenne

Instructions:

1.Blend the tomatoes, tomato paste, vinegars, and coconut aminos in a blender until smooth

 2. Put into a sauce pan over medium heat and add the seasonings and bring to a simmer

 3. Taste the mixture to make sure you like the flavor. If it is too “tomatoey” I usually add more balsamic vinegar and coconut aminos, also garlic powder.

4.Once you have found a flavor that you like, simmer the sauce on low heat for thirty minutes to blend and develop flavors.

5. After the thirty minutes jar in a mason jar and store in the refrigerator! I have kept mine for many months without any problems! Enjoy on literally everything
