Looking for a high protein, lower fat, sweet snack to nom on? SAME. Which is why I came up with this Chocolate Protein Hummus. Lately I have been trying to increase my protein and carbs to help with my crazy cortisol levels-which is a story for another day.

You may ask “why not just buy chocolate hummus from the store?” You can do that, but most of those are filled with sugars, preservatives, and additives that are awful for you. Instead, you can make this super simple recipe in under 10 minutes without all that shit! Trust me, it’s amazing, pair with your favorite fruit, rice cakes, or just with a spoon!

Ingredients:

  1. 1.5 cups drained canned chickpeas or garbanzo beans
  2. ¼ cup Chocolate protein powder
  3. ¼ cup apple sauce
  4. ¼ cup cacao powder or cocoa
  5. ½  cup water
  6. 1 TB maple syrup
  7. Dash of salt

Instructions:

  1. Add all ingredients to a food processor or blender, and blend until smooth. If you would like it to be thinner you can always add more water, or maple syrup!
  2. Enjoy with fruit, rice cakes, or crackers for dipping! Store in refrigerator!
