Here is a recipe on how to make clarified butter. Clarified butter is great for cooking at higher smoke points than normal butter, and also removes a lot of the whey, which helps for those who struggle with dairy (aka me lol)!

  • SERVINGS:  NA
  • PREP TIME:5 Mins
  • ACTIVE TIME: 30 Mins
  • TOTAL TIME: 35 Mins

I make big batches of clarified butter because I use it so much! Store at room temperature away from heat!

Ingredients:

  • At least 4 sticks / cubes of butter, but as many as you want!
  • Cheesecloth for straining

Preparation:

STEP 1.

Add butter to a pot and bring to a small simmer / bubble. Let it simmer until it seperates and starts foaming at the top.

STEP 2.

Keep simmering, NOT boiling, until a crackly top forms. The crackly top will sink to the bottom and the butter will become super clear. Once it is clear, turn off the heat.

STEP 3.

Strain through a fine mesh strainer and cheesecloth. You can keep the milk solids that you strained out for other purpose or throw out. Store the clarified butter in glass containers at room temp!
