This is my go to easy red wine sauce that goes perfectly with steak. It takes around 5-10 minutes and is the perfect addition to a steak.

When picking a wine to use I always say pick a wine you would like to drink. If you don’t like the flavor of it alone, you still won’t like the flavor of it cooked into the sauce.
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp whole butter
- 1 shallot minced
- 1/2 cup dry red wine
- 1/2 cup beef stock or chicken stock
- salt and pepper
Preparation:
STEP 1.
In the pan that you just cooked your steak in (or a new pan if you aren’t cooking with steak), turn the heat to medium and add the butter. Once melted add the shallots and saute until translucent, salting as you go, around 2-3 minutes.
STEP 2.
Once the shallots are cooked through, deglaze the pan with the red wine, scraping up any bits stuck to the pan. Reduce the wine by half.
STEP 3.
Add the stock and reduce until it is nappe, or very thick, thick enough to stick to the back of a spoon.
STEP 4.
Strain it through a fine mesh strainer and serve with the steak of food.
