One of the top questions I get is “how do I clean my stainless steel pan?” Stainless steel pans get a bad rap for being difficult to clean, but if you have the right tools and know what to do, you can have your stainless steel pans looking as good as new for life!
Tools you will need:
- Steel Wool
- Barkeeper’s Friend Stainless Steel Cleaner
For basic cleaning of the pans that aren’t too dirty, all you have to do is scrub real well with stainless steel and dish soap, but for more difficult stains, follow the directions below!

Ingredients:
- Stainless steel pan
- steel wool
- barkeeper’s friend
Preparation:
STEP 1.
Fill your pan or pot up with water. Place stovetop and bring up to a simmer. This will help lift up any remaining food caked onto the pan. Scrape the spots that have food with a wooden spoon while the water is boiling. Once you have scraped it all up, turn off the heat and drain the water.
STEP 2.
Give the pot a quick rinse with water and soap, then drain the pot but leave it slightly damp.
STEP 3.
Sprinkle Barkeeper’s Friend in the pot / pan. With a sponge or damp towel, scrub the powder all over the pan, wherever it needs to be clean. This will lift any remaining residue. Once all of the stains have lifted, rinse out with water and scrub with soap once more. Dry and your pot should be as good as new!
