Lobster can be intimidating to cook, but I am a strong believer that it is in fact the easiest seafood to make, especially if you are only cooking the tail! I had never cooked a lobster until I was in culinary school because I believed the myth that they were difficult to cook. When I saw how easy it was, and how quick, I started making it all the time. This is my go to recipe for quick lobster tail in under 10 minutes that is buttery, garlicky, and will impress everyone.

How to Break Down a Lobster Tail:

  • Using kitchen sheers, cut down the top of the shell all the way to the tail, but do not cut the meat.
  • Using your hands, squeeze both sides of the tail so the underside cracks, this loosens the meat.
  • Using a spoon, work the meat away from the shell, leaving the tail end intact.
  • Using your hands, pull the meat and let it sit on top of the shell, leaving it attached at the tail end.

What is Broiling?

Broiling is a cooking technique that involves exposing food to direct, high heat from above, usually in your oven. When applied to lobster tail, this method enhances the natural sweetness of the meat while creating a tantalizing caramelized surface. It also is so quick to do!

Butter + Flavor Combinations

In this recipe I combine butter, garlic, parsley and smoked paprika to the lobster tail, but there are loads of other combinations that are great!

  • Butter, lemon, dill & garlic
  • Butter, cilantro & cayenne pepper
  • Butter, thyme, rosemary & garlic
  • Brown butter and sage
  • Honey butter

  • salt
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 garlic clove, grated
  • 1 tbsp parsley, minced
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

In a bowl, melt your butter and add the garlic, parsley, and smoked paprika and mix with a spoon. Brush the butter mixture onto the lobster meat. Broiler 5-8 inches under the broiler for 3 minutes. Remove and baste again with the butter. Broil for another 3 minutes and remove.
