You probably already know by now, but my favorite cocktail is an espresso martini. It is the best, hands down, no argument. I have become really good at making it at home, and making my own fun versions with it.
Recently I made a rosemary simple syrup for my morning lattes and thought to try it in an espresso martini….and it was one of the best cocktails I have ever had! It sounds weird…..but trust me it is amazing.
Key Ingredients & Substitutions:
- Espresso – Fresh homemade is the best, however you can also buy at a coffee shop and bring home. But for the love of god dont use coffee.
- Rosemary + Sugar – This is for the simple syrup. White sugar is the best, however you can use other sugar of choice. Maple would be great with this cocktail.
- Vodka – Any vodka works here! Sub with other liquor at your own risk.

Total Time:15 minutes
Serves: 1
Ingredients:
Rosemary Simple Syrup
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 sprigs rosemary
- 1 tbsp vanilla bean paste
Espresso Martini
- 1.5 oz espresso
- 1.5 oz vodka
- 1.5 oz rosemary simple syrup from above

Preparation:
STEP 1.
Make the simple syrup. In a pot add sugar, water and rosemary. Bring up to a simmer and simmer until the sugar is dissolve. Turn off the heat and stir in the vanilla bean paste. Let it sit there for 10 minutes to develop flavor and remove the rosemary.
You can do this a few days ahead of time and store in the fridge.
STEP 2.
In a cocktail shaker with ice, combine the espresso, vodka, and rosemary simple syrup and shake for 1 minute – until your arms are tired.
STEP 3.
Pour into a cocktail glass and serve with coffee beans. Enjoy!
