BBQ pork ribs are hands down one of the best pork dishes, but did you know you can make them in the oven? It might not be traditional BBQ, but it’s fall off the bone pork that melts in your mouth. And the best part? No smoker required!
Key Ingredients & Substitutions:
- Baby Back Ribs – These are the best cut of pork ribs. They tend to be more tender than spare ribs and have more meat, however you can use spare ribs here.
- Mustard – I prefer a yellow mustard, but brown mustard also is delicious here.
- BBQ Rub – I personally make my own rub, which will be listed in the ingredient list, but you can use rub of choice, just make sure you evenly coat the ribs.
- BBQ Sauce – Pick your favorite bbq sauce for this! Any works – but vinegar base is the best in my opinion.

Oven BBQ Ribs
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 3 Hours 20 minutes
Total Time: 3 Hours 40 minutes
Serves: 2-4
Ingredients:
- 1 rack baby back pork ribs
- 1/4 cup yellow mustard
- 2 cups bbq sauce
BBQ Rub:
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp pepper
- 3 tsp smoked paprika
Preparation:
STEP 1.
Preheat the oven to 275°F.
STEP 2.
Prep the ribs. If there is a membrane on the underside of the bones, remove that. Coat the ribs on both sides in mustard so there is an even layer. Then coat in an even layer of bbq rub.
STEP 3.
Wrap the ribs in foil so it is in a foil pocket and roll the edges so it is sealed. This will trap in the steam and moisture, making the ribs tender while they cook.
STEP 4.
Place on a sheet tray and transfer to the oven. Bake for 3 hours. Remove from the oven and test for tenderness, the rib should easily be able to come out of the meat.
STEP 5.
Turn the oven to broil. Brush bbq sauce onto the ribs and place under the broiler. Broil for 5-8 minutes until you have a golden crust, then remove from the oven.
STEP 6.
Serve with the remaining bbq sauce and enjoy!
