I cut a shallot the same way I cut an onion, makes for the most even cuts!

Ingredients:

  • 1 shallot

Preparation:

STEP 1.

Cut the non root side off of the shallot and then slice in half through the root. Peel the outer layer off.

STEP 2.

Have the shallot, if super round, facing your cutting hand and do horizontal plank layers. Go to the root, but not through it. Keeping the root in tact will help hold the shallot together.

STEP 3.

Turn the shallot to face you (cut side facing you), and slice columns vertically down, but not through the root.

STEP 4.

Turn it back to facing your cutting hand, and slice columns vertically through, making the diced shallot.
