This is hands down the easiest way to cook salmon. I love it because it is also pretty foolproof. You don’t have to worry about the skin sticking to the pan or whether it is going to lack flavor. The glaze coats the salmon perfectly and creates a crust that is crisp and caramelized. And since it cooks in the broiler, it takes less than 10 minutes! This is an ideal recipe if you are newer to cooking salmon or if you just want an easy salmon recipe.
Key Ingredients & Substitutions:
- Salmon Filets, boneless and skinless – I prefer to use king salmon, Scottish or Atlantic salmon. You can also use black cod here.
- White Miso Paste – The umami base of the glaze. Yellow and red miso works too but will be slightly stronger in flavor.
- Maple Syrup – Adds natural sweetness and helps caramelize the glaze. Honey can substitute for a slightly different flavor, or brown sugar for a sweeter glaze.
- Lime, juiced – Brightens and balances the glaze. A dash of rice wine vinegar works in a pinch.
- Tamari or Soy Sauce – Adds a deeper savory note. Coconut aminos are a great soy free option.

Miso Maple Soy Glazed Salmon
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 2
Ingredients:
- 2 salmon filets, boneless & skinless
- Salt to taste
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds for garnish
- 1 Tbsp green onions, thinly sliced, for garnish
Glaze
- 2 Tbsp white miso paste
- 2 Tbsp maple syrup
- 1/2 lime, juiced
- 1 Tbsp tamari or soy sauce, 25% less sodium
Preparation:
STEP 1.
Turn your broiler on and place a rack 5 inches beneath. Line a sheet tray with foil. Place salmon on the foil and season with salt on all sides.
STEP 2.
Mix together the miso paste, maple syrup, lime juice and tamari until smooth. Brush the glaze onto the salmon.
STEP 3.
Place salmon under the broiler for 3 minutes. After the 3 minutes, remove from the oven and brush one more time with the mixture. Place back in the oven and set another timer for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, check your salmon to make sure it is not getting to dark. If it is getting too dark, move to a lower shelf and cook for another 2-5 minutes, until an internal thermometer reads 125°F, or until it is flaky and cooked through.
STEP 4.
Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions and enjoy!
